It is not about the destination, it is about the journey. You never stop learning because life never stops teaching. - Daisy Seilern
Recently acquired works by award-winning photographer Daisy Seilern will be featured at the VFA Booth at this summer’s Hamptons Fine Art Fair.
Seilern is an award-winning photographer from Austria who began her career photographing newborns after her first child was born. Her passion for photography, and the desire to enhance her career, led her to study photography and video production at Instituto del Arte Lorenzo di Medici in Florence, Italy in 1999.
She opened her own studio in 2012, where she focused on photographing children and families, Around 2020, Seilern began to expand her ouvre, with visually creative photographs of extraordinary performance artists, for which she has received numerous awards.
In 2024, Seilern won three Platinum MUSE awards, in three categories, for her photo Modern Mowgli, available at VFA. “The picture shows Rene Casselly doing basketball stunts with Kimba, one of his elephants.” Seilern explained in an interview with MUSE. “Rene has built an elderly home for retired circus animals and lives among his elephants. This picture is a poignant narrative of the enduring bond between humans and animals - it transcends mere imagery. It was such a great experience to work with them and to be able to encapsulate such profound storytelling in a single frame.”
Each of Daisy Seilern’s photographs captures a singular, spectacular and unexpected moment in a single frame.
Julian Opie (b.1958) currently has exhibitions at galleries in Germany, Portugal, Italy, Japan and South Korea. The British artist’s works are instantly recognizable, and universally embraced, for their clean, pared-down style.
Opie began his career by making painted steel sculptures. The materials he used became more complex and his style became increasingly minimal as his career progressed. "You know there is a tendency to feel that in order for something to be important that it's got to be difficult,” Opie said, “and I tend to go the other way”.
Daisy Seiler and Julian Opie are just two of the artists whose works will be available at our booth at the Hamptons Art Fair from July 10 to 13 at the Southampton Fairgrounds.
Other featured artists include: Alex Katz, Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, Tom Wesselmann, Nick Veasey, Robert Longo and Donald Sultan.
