Biography

Tracey Emin is a British artist known for her deeply personal and confessional works that explore themes of sexuality, identity, and trauma. She was born on July 3, 1963, in Croydon, London, UK. Emin's artistic practice is characterized by her use of various media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. Her works often feature handwritten text, revealing intimate details of her life and experiences.

 

Emin gained international recognition for her installation piece "My Bed," which featured her own unmade bed surrounded by personal items such as condoms and cigarette butts. The work was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1999, cementing Emin's status as a leading figure in contemporary art.
